GENTACIN 200
FOR CATTLE, SHEEP, GOATS AND SWINE
PRESENTATION:
Aqueous injectable solution containing (per ml) gentamicin
sulphate equivalent to 200 mg gentamicin base.
USES:
Gentamycin belongs to the group of aminoglycosides
and has bactericidal action against mainly gram negative
bacteria, for example, E. Coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella
and Salmonella spp. The bactericidal action
is based on inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis.
GENTACIN 200 is effective against gastro-intestinal
and respiratory infections of cattle, calves, sheep,
goats and swine, caused by gentamycin sensitive bacteria
such as E. coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella and Salmonella
spp.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
By intramuscular injection.
0.50 ml GENTACIN 200 per 50 kg bodyweight, twice
daily for 3 days. (Equivalent to 2 mg gentamicin
per kg bodyweight).
CONTRA-INDICATIONS, WARNINGS ETC:
For animal treatment only.
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
Do not administer to animals with known impaired liver
and/or renal function.
Do not administer to animals with known hypersensitivity
to gentamicin.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occasionally occur.
WITHDRAWAL PERIODS:
Animals must not be slaughtered for human consumption
during treatment or until 7 days after the last treatment.
Milk must not be used for human consumption during
treatment or until 3 days after the
last treatment.
PHARMACEUTICAL PRECAUTIONS:
Store below 25 degrees Centigrade in a dry place.
PACKAGE QUANTITIES: 100 ml multi-dose
vials.
