PHARMYCIN LA
FOR CATTLE, SHEEP AND PIGS
PRESENTATION:
A 20% W/V INJECTABLE solution of 200mg Oxytetracycline
dehydrate per ml, stabilized in an aqueous / solvent
system.
USES:
PHARMYCIN LA is recommended in the treatment of a wide
range of common systemic, respiratory, and local infections
caused by, or associated with, organisms sensitive to
Oxytetracycline.
DOSAGE
AND ADMINISTRATION:
By deep intramuscular injection only.
The recommended dosage is 20mg per kg or 10ml per 100kg
bodyweight.
Dosage:
Cattle: 10.00 ml per 100 kg bodyweight
Calves: 5.00 ml per 50 kg bodyweight
Sheep: 2.50 ml per 25 kg bodyweight
Lambs: 1.00 ml per 10 kg bodyweight
Piglets: 0.50 ml per 5 kg bodyweight
Weaners: 2.00 ml per 20 kg bodyweight
Fatteners / Sows: 7.50 ml per 75 kg bodyweight
These are average recommendations.
The maximum dose volume recommended at any one site
is:
Cattle: 20 ml
Sheep: 5 ml
Pigs: 10 ml
CONTRA-INDICATIONS,
WARNINGS ETC:
PHARMYCIN LA should not be used in sheep producing milk
for human consumption.
Not for use in animals with known hypersensitivity to
oxytetracycline.
Occasional allergic reactions do occur, but these are
rare.
Use of tetracycline during the period of tooth development,
including late pregnancy, may lead to tooth discolouration.
Do not dilute PHARMYCIN LA.
PHARMYCIN LA is well tolerated, but occasionally a slight
transient reaction may be observed at the injection
site.
Do not administer by the intravenous route.
Not for use in horses, dogs, and cats.
WITHDRAWAL PERIODS:
Milk should not be used for human consumption during
treatment or for 8 days thereafter.
Animals should not be slaughtered for human consumption
during treatment or for 28 days thereafter.
PHARMACEUTICAL PRECAUTIONS:
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
For animal treatment only.
Do not store above 25 degrees Centigrade.
This product contains no preservative.
Avoid contamination during use.
Once the vial is broached, use contents within four
weeks.
Should any apparent growth or discolouration occur,
the product should be discarded.
This product contains dimethylacetamide (DMAC) and care
should be taken to prevent absorption through the skin.
Wash hands after use.

QUANTITIES: 100 ml vials.
ENVIRONMENTAL
WARNING:
Unused product or waste material should be disposed
of in accordance with current practice for pharmaceutical
waste under national waste disposal regulations. |
